A Look Back at
ALA PGS 2024

These videos highlight last year’s program, offering a glimpse of the exciting experiences that await.

Schedules may differ slightly year to year, but one thing is certain:

this week will change a lifetime!

Monday Mania: Speeches, Master Classes, and Dance Parties Galore! 🎤🎨🇺🇸

Our Monday was action-packed! We discovered our voices, delivered speeches to run for various offices, and gained inspiration from local government leaders like Lake City Mayor Yamekia Robinson and Mount Pleasant Town Councilwoman G.M. Whitley. The day also included painting city banners, participating in over 30 master classes, and learning about flag etiquette. Of course, we couldn’t resist throwing in a dance party (or two) to keep the energy high!

Wednesday Wins: Elections, County Olympics, and Fierce Competition! 🗳️🏅🎉

We’re fired up for Wednesday! Today was all about electing our constitutional officers for the Nationalist and Federalist parties. The excitement didn't stop there—our counties faced off in the intense County Olympics, competing in relay games and bonding activities to claim the top spot. The competition is thrilling!

Sunday Funday: Moving In, Chanting Loud,
and Meeting Molly Spearman! 🎉🇺🇸

Sunday was such a fun day! We kicked off the week moving in and saying goodbye to our family, learned new chants and songs, and settled in for some incredible assembly speakers (like former South Carolina Superintendent of Education and Girls State alumna Molly Spearman!) We had so much fun learning about our new girls state sisters, running for political positions in our cities, and easing into the ways of Palmetto Girls State!

Tuesday Triumphs: Speeches, Poppies, and Wisdom from Lt. Governor Pamela Evette! 🌺🎤👩‍💼

Tuesday was filled with excitement and inspiration! We continued campaigning for political offices and honed our public speaking skills to deliver incredible speeches. We were honored to hear from South Carolina’s Lieutenant Governor Pamela Evette, who shared her experiences as a woman in politics. The day concluded with one of our most cherished traditions—the Poppy Ceremony—where we placed handmade poppies on wreaths to honor our veterans.

Building Our Palmetto State: Parades, Inaugurations, and Real Legislative Impact! 🎉🏛️

Ladies, we did it—we’ve built our Palmetto State! Friday was a monumental day, starting with a parade through the streets of Columbia, the Palmetto State’s capital. We then held the inauguration of our constitutional officers as they were officially "sworn" into office and got to hear from our governor, Henry McMaster. A highlight of the day was reuniting with Palmetto Boys State for a fun t-shirt exchange and enjoying our favorite lunch from Chick-fil-A. Back at the Capitol building, the House and Senate convened to read and vote on the bills crafted by our delegates. Once passed, these bills will be shared with South Carolina’s actual legislators for consideration, showing the real impact of our hard work.

Thursday Vibes: Elections, Empowerment, and Sisterhood at Palmetto Girls State! 🎤💪👭

Don't stop us now—we're on a roll! Thursday was all about building our Palmetto State! We listened to powerful speeches from our Nationalist and Federalist party candidates and cast our votes to elect them to our constitutional offices. A special highlight was hearing from the Honorable Judge Aphrodite Konduros, a proud Girls State alumna, who inspired us with her message about empowering women to be strong and independent. This day was a celebration of sisterhood, as we came together to support and uplift one another.
